I’m a bassoon. I hate being myself because I sound very scary. It’s my biggest problem. People who made me made a very serious mistake because my size and voice are awful. I feel very embarrassed when I have to go on stage. I’m very shy and I’m fed up with my voice. My best friends are the flute and the oboe. I trust them and they help me dealing with my problems. I love them.

I’m a flute. It’s not nice to be a flute. I’m a small woodwind instrument and it’s my problem. Everybody looks only at the big and strong instruments, and I’m not a star – my sound isn’t as loud and when I play in the orchestra nobody can hear me too well. People think I’m unnecessary. I often get nervous when my owner hasn’t got a fresh breath.

I’m a viola. I’m made of oak wood, my strings are made of steel and I’m a product of China. In the orchestra I’m very important, because I’m immediately in front of the poor conductor. Behind me are the flutes, the oboes, the clarinets, the bassoons, the French horn, the trumpets and the trombones. My player is a woman named Monica. She is young, but she’ s a really good player. Monica is very talented. When she plays on me, she rubs the bow against my strings. I feel something like itching and scratching, but it’s a very nice feeling. I love it!

What are the important features of this task?
I learned how to crochet by myself from a magazine, where it was described how to start crocheting step by step and what I needed to do it. It was 15 years ago.
To do this task I need a crochet-hook, a good quality thread and patterns. A very important feature is that I crochet for pleasure, not for sale; it’s my hobby. Usually, when I crochet I sit in the armchair, listen to music or watch TV and feel relaxed. It’s very important for me that all curtains and tablecloths which I make I use to decorate my flat.
Which features are less important and why?
A less important feature is a place where I crochet. I can do this at home, on a beach, traveling by train etc. I just need free time, a little space and of course all necessary tools and materials.
What is difficult about this task?
Counting stitches is a very difficult task. When crocheting I have to be careful. Sometimes when I drop a stitch and discover this later, I have to unstitch all my needlework, which makes me lose my temper.
What’s a can’t-do-without feature?
A pattern is a can’t-do-without feature for me. I never draw patterns from memory. I always use those I find in professional magazines, receive from colleagues, or print from the Internet. I have a big collection of patterns, most of which I bought.

It happened in Venice. In St Mark Square the amused crowd was celebrating the first day of autumn. Music resonated everywhere and the smells of amaretto coffee, red wine, pasta and pizza filled the air. The sun was going down lazily, illuminating with a gold-pink shine the Doge’s Palace as well as ordinary citizens’ houses. Through the opened window some sun rays entered a hotel-room, from where a loud talk of a couple was coming. After a few minutes the talk become an argument and unexpectedly stopped. A moment later, a woman run out of the hotel; she seemed to be sad and angry. The next moment, through the same door a man run out, trying to spot her in the crowd. He called her name, but she couldn’t or didn’t want to hear him. The man saw her near the gondola harbour. He started to run pushing through people – suddenly his black jumper slid down from his shoulders, but he didn’t stopped. He nearly reached her when she was about to sail away with a handsome gondolier.
