obsessed about obesity
“I got weight issues, yeah you know, the kind that most girls have and obsess about all the time.”
Are these just words of another American girl unsatisfied with her weight, or is it a more general truth about adolescent girls nowadays, also in Poland? And are we perhaps near to becoming an American-like society where weight-related problems are a nationwide issue and fighting obesity is not only “an obsession” of individuals but also a government’s policy?
p.s. This is directed to my IELTS girls (By the way, I left you the full version of the text on gv_files) but anyone is, of course, welcomed to comment on that.

There’s nothing on gv files.
I found the text for all of you who haven’t got it. Have a nice day :]

Thank’s ;P
Gabrysia, you haven’t found anything, because I left the text for the other group in gv_files, as I did the text only with Maciek and Agnieszka (and they got the printed version); but since Maciek was so helpful to find it for you – that’s even better. What is your take on that?
I think that this is a worldwide issue and common not only in the USA. I know girls who have this kind of problem. This is like an obsession. They always think that they have ‘too much’ in some parts of theirs bodies. Perhaps some of them want to become models. I think is a kind of sick situation. Most girls nowadays want to be like those slim models from magazines, but they forget that beautiful photos they see in newspapers are in 90% enhanced in Photoshop;). Let’s calm down. It’s time goverments did something about the problem. What? They can raise the limit of weight and size for models and change food in school canteens to avoid reverse issue like overweight youngsters.
I think it’s media that create the ideal look of a man and woman. We only see those skinny models and want to be like them. That’s where the problems start. Girls obsessed with their weight and appearance get into eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia. If only there was a national campaign and people, especially teenage girls, would learn that starving to be extremely skinny is not a healthy lifestyle.
I subscribe to the opinion that weight obsessions are a common problem also in Poland. Many of my friends, especially the thinner ones, keep complaining about how fat they are. I think that media are to blame for this. They tend to present unreal photos of extremely slim models, which are simply computer-enhanced. I would strongly advice those who obsess about their weight all the time to stop following the fixed patterns of a skinny adolescent and turn to something more realistic.
