Rospuda Valley – your conclusions
As during the last two classes we were talking about Rospuda Valley, the time has come to summarise and organize your views and opinions on the subject. Plan an essay on the by-pass around Augustów (topic: “Are you for or against building a by-pass through the Rospuda Valley?”). Share with the group the complete final paragraph of the essay: your conclusions.

In the conclusion, human life should always be in the foreground. However, we all need nature to exist, simply to breathe. Such natural heritage as Rospuda Valley, should be under a special care. It’s without question that the congestion through the town of Augustow must be relived. We should try to minimize damages as much as it is possible. From where I stand, the best solution would be building a longer ring road, which won’t pass through the Rospuda Valley, but it should be done in the shortest period of time.
The Via Baltica in it’s Białystok option takes some risk as a partly degradation of the protected natural sites. Our Government proposed the Rospuda Valley for inclusion in the European Natura 2000 network, so the decision of leading route through that areas shouldn’t be made. In spite of that, any new conclusion of the route will take years and another millions of zlotys.Traffic congestion through the Augustów town still will be causing tragic accidents. Poland as a centre of the East-European transport tracks needs this the most important connection between Baltic States. In my opinion a resonable solution is to think through all the advantages and disadvantages of an actual expressway building, but the final conclusion is the only one-sooner or later the Via Baltica should be build. Realising this project is necessary for country’s economy and people’s safety.
I decided o make two small corrections, so please, resd his text instead of pervious:)

In conclusion, building highways, by-passess around cities is necessary to relive congestions in Poland. It’s unquestionable objective for our authorities. However, these actions should be in harmony with environment protection. The proposed road through Rospuda Valley threatens a unique wetlands and endanger a number of animal species. As a part of protected area by Natura 2000-European Network, Rospuda Valley should be treated as undisturbed, environmentally precious heritage. According to that, polish authorities should once more consider ways of building this by-pass, because there are alternatives cause less damage and give an opportunity for co-financed by the EU.
